Eat more potassium to lower your blood pressure.
Most people know that reducing salt intake can lower blood pressure. But if you’re concerned about high blood pressure, it’s equally important to increase your consumption of potassium-rich foods such as yogurt, bananas, strawberries, sweet and white potatoes, and beans.
Experts recommend limiting sodium (salt) intake to no more than 2300 milligrams per day (1500 milligrams if you’re 51 years or older, African American, or if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, or chronic kidney disease). Potassium intake should be at least 4700 milligrams per day.
